Our Story

How it all started...

The House of Refuge for All People started in the month of December in 2013, when a small group of believers met at the residences of Pastor Hodges III and Lady Hodges for Bible study. All we had at that time was a mission statement and vision, but no building. We continued to meet at the house for Bible study until we were able to move into a temporary space, which was located at 251 Green Lane, Ewing N.J. We had our first service on June 8th, 2014. We only had 4 members, myself, Lady Hodges, Quinton, Michaela Hodges and Rodney Bowe. We also had some of our family to help us along the way from Sunday to Sunday, Evangelist Linda Mckoy, Elder Hodges, Deaconess Hodges and Adekoyejo Ogumyemi who where members. The Lord sent sis Porsche Merricks and Nicole Ogunyemi who played a part by helping us with our Praise and Worship. These people played an important part in keeping the church functioning from Sunday to Sunday. As time went on God, begin to bless us and add members to the flock. He blessed us with a nurse/pastor aide (Rose Griffin) and a drummer (Burnell Barnes). Sister Cheryl Stevens and Sister Cassandra Hodges also joined and has been a great help in whatever we set our foot to do. God has also bless us to get officials in the church, 2 Elders (Elder Hodges and Elder Mckoy), 1 Deaconess, (Deaconess Judy Hodges), 2 Trustees (Trustee Rodney Bowe and Trustee LaRaul White), 2 Secretaries (Sister Michaela Hodges and Sister Cassandra Hodges) and a praise and worship leader and musician, (Matthew Cook). We have been blessed to have several other members join the congregation and I know God will continue to bless the church. God has bless us in several ways this 1st year and we still believe the best is yet to come. We are a church that believes in the power of love and hope and want everyone who walks through our doors to feel these two things. We want to reach souls and bring individuals to God. God has a mighty work for us to do. Much has changed, but we are believing God and trusting in his plan.

Expanding the vision...

We strive to  expand our vision by first making an impact in our community.  Our aim is to spread the love of Jesus to those who are feeling like there is no hope and don't feel love in their lives.  We want to impact the youth of the day by helping them on the various of peer pressure they face every single day.  We want to help the single mother who is struggling with trying to raise a child in this environment where it's tough sometimes to make it with two parents.  We want to be a place where those who are going through a addiction  can come and be free through the power of Jesus Christ.  We just want to be a place of refuge for all and a place where people can come to be loved and grow in the gospel of God.

Where we are headed...

We are headed in whatever direction God is leading us. We are expecting great and marvelous things from God. We are looking to be Blessed and looking forward to God revealing new revelations to us. We are believing and trusting God and have faith that he will lead us in the right direction.

We know and believe that God had so much more in store for us. We are being led by God and will go will He leads.
